Used Pushback Racking — LIFO Storage Systems

Push back racking can be configured from 2 to 6 pallets deep per lane. Each depth level uses a gravity-fed cart system that allows pallets to roll forward automatically when the front pallet is removed, maintaining LIFO inventory flow throughout the storage lane.

LIFO stands for Last-In, First-Out. In a push back racking system, the most recently loaded pallet is the first to be retrieved. When a pallet is placed onto the rack, it pushes previously loaded pallets back. When removed, gravity brings the remaining pallets forward to the pick face, making this ideal for non-date-sensitive inventory.

Selective pallet racking provides access to every pallet from the main aisle but requires more aisle space, reducing storage density. Push back racking eliminates intermediate aisles by storing 2–6 pallets deep per lane, significantly increasing storage capacity per square foot, though it limits access to the front pallet in each lane at any given time.
